Blogging is a really good way that most beginners can get started making money online. The reason for this is that it is really simple to get going and you do not need a lot of technical knowledge.
There are two popular blogging platforms Blogger and Wordpress. If you are a novice I recommend that you go for Blogger. If you are more technically advanced and really serious about your business you should choose Wordpress. This has a lot more features and includes a MySQL database.
In this article I would like to go over the 4 steps that you need to do to make money from blogs.
1) Choose a niche market
It is very important that you choose a niche market that you will enjoy. Since you will be working with this for a very long time it must be something that you will have an active interest in. You will have to update your blog with fresh content continually.
2) Get a professional template
It is important that you choose a very professional design. You may also want to consider hiring a professional web designer. Your blog represents your business identity and you need to make a good first impression.
3) Drive traffic to your site
Traffic is the lifeblood of your business and without this you are unlikely to succeed. Write articles and submit them to the major directories. Post your high quality articles to blog carnivals and also web 2 sites like Digg.
4) Monetize your site
You can monetize your site using Google Adsense or affiliate links. It is very important to make money off the traffic that you actually receive. You can also create a subscription form near the top and use this to build a list.
